Revelations through the woo…
Saturn lives in my 4th whole sign house of Libra. This means Saturn, whose charges are Capricorn and Aquarius, rules my 7th (partnerships and marriage) and 8th houses (esteem & resources of others). My husband is a Capricorn Sun and Ascendant.
It’s quite literally JUST occurred to me that I idolize my husband and marriage when things are going well. And (difficult to admit) think the worst when things are tough. And it’s genuinely not the worst of Him. I can understand, appreciate and cherish his humanity. But when he avoids telling me something difficult, small or big, I think the worst of myself. Because somehow, his avoidance becomes his opinion of me.
And so, the exaltation and the fall become not only about Saturn but about Venus, as the ruler of Libra, as well. We don’t generally pair these two planets together in our thinking of planetary movements and moments. But she is home in Libra and seeks fairness, partnership and diplomacy here. If those ideals are received, then Saturn remains on his pedestal. Instead, if those ideals are withheld and withdrawn, the balance is lost, and the pedestal no longer holds Saturn. An unsupported Saturn becomes downcast, solitary, even petty.
And so, continues the delicate balance.
Keep reading for some explanation of Saturn and Venus as archetypes.
Saturn withholds. Restrains and abstains. Abandons. Saturn is cold and dry. But Saturn also builds and creates solid things, things that stand the test of time, homes and relationships with equal care. When Saturn sets out on the path, it is maintained and structured, but the support is not always obvious.
Venus connects, brings together and makes friendships. Brings peace, makes romance and cakes alike. Venus also gets jealous and can sour in “too much sweet”. Venus is the Queen of the land of Passive Aggressiva! Our demonstrative and nurturing Aphrodite craves, if not thrives on, interaction and stimulation. Even debate.
If Saturn is insistent on solitude in the moment without explanation, Venus may feel slighted and denied of her natural state. The trick is to find the similarities between these two very different stars as they wander their own paths. One very dry, the other wet… but both cold. One sees the big picture, the other fine details… same image. One wants black and colorless, the other likes an array of colors… both seek beautification and order. There are ways these two are so similar. Remembering to honor the differences is the key. Venus learning that solitude is a gift. Saturn learns that partners take turns leading. So many lessons can be learned from these two planets, independently and as the odd couple.
To lighten the load on Saturn, here’s a short list of well-known people with Saturn Venus contacts: Billie Eilish; Patsy Cline; Dolly Parton; Norah Jones; Will Smith; Paul Simon to name a few.
