When the Messenger Gets Struck by Lightning
July 1-9, 2026
July wastes no time.
The month begins with Mars colliding with Uranus in Gemini, a transit that rarely believes in easing us into things gently. If June felt like standing at a crossroads, July begins with someone honking behind us while the light turns green.
Gemini is a sign of movement. It gathers information, makes connections, asks questions, and follows curiosity down side streets just to see what’s there. Mars adds urgency. Uranus adds surprise.
Together, they create a moment that feels electric.
Plans change. News arrives unexpectedly. Conversations take an unforeseen turn. Ideas appear out of nowhere and demand attention. Sometimes this transit manifests as excitement and breakthrough. Sometimes it arrives as disruption. Most often, it’s both.
Yet what strikes me about this particular Mars-Uranus conjunction is what happens next.
Within hours, Mars reaches out to Neptune and Pluto. The spark immediately connects to something deeper.
This is not random chaos. This is revelation.
Think of standing outside during a summer storm. For a brief moment, lightning illuminates the entire landscape. Fences, trees, rooftops, roads—everything becomes visible at once. The lightning didn’t create those things. It simply allowed you to see them.
That may be the invitation of this week.
What suddenly becomes obvious?
What truth has been waiting just beyond the edge of your awareness?
What conversation can no longer be avoided?
The answers may arrive quickly.
As if to ensure we don’t run too far with our discoveries, the Sun in Cancer forms a square to Saturn in Aries on July 6.
Every now and then, life responds to our enthusiasm with paperwork.
Saturn is the planet of limits, obligations, and reality checks. While Mars and Uranus are busy kicking down doors, Saturn appears holding a clipboard.
Not to punish us.
To ask whether we’re prepared for what comes next.
Cancer seeks safety. Aries seeks action. The square between them asks a simple but uncomfortable question:
What responsibility comes attached to the thing you say you want?
Sometimes growth requires courage. Sometimes growth requires consistency. Often, it’s both.
Then Neptune stations retrograde on July 7, bringing a subtle but important shift in the atmosphere.
Neptune often blurs the edges of things. It governs dreams, ideals, longings, and the stories we tell ourselves about what is possible. When Neptune turns retrograde, the fog doesn’t necessarily disappear, but we may notice it for the first time.
Something that seemed obvious may become questionable.
Something that felt impossible may suddenly appear within reach.
The stories we tell ourselves about who we are and where we’re headed come under review.
For some, this may feel like disillusionment.
For others, it may feel like clarity.
The difference often depends on whether the dream was built on truth.
Taken together, the astrology of this first week feels less like a beginning and more like an awakening.
A flash of insight.
A moment of honesty.
A glimpse of a road that was hidden moments before.
July begins by asking us to pay attention.
Not because everything is changing.
Because we can finally see what already has.
Much Love,
S.
